Lauri Sawyer, RPT
Lauri Sawyer, RPT, first became interested in the field of Physical Therapy when it was in its infancy. As a teenager, she watched her grandmother recover from a broken wrist through treatment from a physical therapist – one of the only in the area. Immediately intrigued by what she saw, Lauri, who had always known that she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field, volunteered for a year in the physical therapy department of a hospital just to be sure that it was the path for her. Her formal education occurred at the Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Services at Boston University. Since graduating in 1983, she has passionately sought to continue her education through programs and seminars, receiving certifications in Cranio-sacral work, myofascial release, and manual spinal manipulation and mobilization.
In addition to working for numerous hospitals in the Boston area, Lauri has owned and operated her own physical therapy practice for over 20 years. Her private practice has grown to three locations over the years, at the same time that Lauri was helping to build the physical therapy department of the Marino Center for Integrative Health, where she continues to work and has for nearly 13 years. Adding Visions to her locations of care came naturally to this busy practitioner, who thrives off of challenge as much as she does off of interacting with and assisting people from all walks of life.
Movement is at the core of Lauri’s life, both professional and personal, so it follows naturally that in her personal time she remains quite active. Yoga, hiking, skiing, and tennis are all activities that she enjoys. She cherishes her close relationships with her husband, her two sons and their adopted bearded collie, Hope. Lauri came to Visions seeking collaboration with other talented practitioners, and her skill and energy are a wonderful addition and compliment to the team.
