Osteopathic training includes a special emphasis on the inter-relationship between the structure and function of the body. Doctors of Osteopathy recognize the body’s innate healing ability and work to facilitate that process in each patient. Several of the primary care and specialty physicians at Visions are Osteopaths, and their practices may include Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy, a modality used to diagnose, treat, and/or prevent injury or illness through hands-on treatment.

There are two types of complete physicians in the United States: Doctors of Medicine (M.D.s) and Doctors of Osteopathy (D.O.s). Each type of physician goes through a very similar regimen of education, internship, residency, and specialization in order to earn equivalent licensure in the practice of medicine.
